Hi=20 all,

This time I = need your=20 help for the identification of various species found in the Christmas = mine,=20 CA, USA.
Over the = years I bought=20 (in Tucson and via mail orders) quite an impressive number of = Christmas mine=20 specimens, and the more I look at them, the more I am in doubt wether = all=20 identifications are correct. I would like to avoid too much X-ray = and/or=20 microprobe work, and I would appreciate some help in the visual = identification=20 of those minerals, at least if that is possible.

1.    The=20 dark blue minerals : I'll describe as I THINK it is ; correct me if = I'm wrong=20 :

kinoite : = cornflower-blue=20 platy microcrystals, striated in the longest direction. Aggregates = more or les=20 randomly, sometimes more or less spherical. Also indivudual crystals = from time=20 to time, mostly burried under a sheet of=20 apophyllite-crystals.

In the only specimen I have associated with colorless shiny = platy to=20 prismatic individual terminated crystals (junitoite ??) ; the original = label=20 indicated "apophyllite", but I doubt it (prismatic habitus=20 !)

apachite :=20 cornflower-blue (or perhaps somewhat darker) spherical aggregates with = little=20 or no terminations.

3.    How=20 can you recognise junitoite and distinguish it from the other white to = colorless minerals such as poorly crystallised apophyllite, = wollastonite...=20 ?

4.    The=20 most easy one is perhaps gilalite (pale-greenish nodules and thiny=20 crusts).

Did I = overlook other=20 important species ? Do my descriptions match reality in your opinion=20 ?
I suggest to = send your=20 answers to the list rather than private, because others might have the = same or=20 analoguous problems.
Any help = would be welcome=20 !
