Antero" sponsored by the Colorado Federation of Mineral Societies.... Buena Vista, Colorado. Quote below is from the local Chamber of Commerce. "Aug.10-12 -- Contin-Tail Rock and Gem Show : More than 100 booths. Collectors paradise. Merchants from all over the country gather at the Rodeo Grounds near Buena Vista to sell, swap and show rocks, minerals and gems. Everything from mineral samples to sculptured art work to fine jewelry." Buena Vista is pretty isolated from major population centers (perhaps that's one attraction), but attendance is certainly in the thousands... people come from hundreds of miles in all directions (after all, I think it's worth the drive from Phoenix!). Y'all come! Richard Dale http://www.dalerocks.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 8 Aug 2001 13:12:44 EDT From: Airbrushn4@aol.com Subject: Re: Tailgating below Antero Mt. Antero is amazing. Try hiking to the Aquamarine mine at the top. It's a pretty tough climb but worth it. Leave early in the morning and bring lots of water and prepare for weather to change rapidly. Monday-Saturday the mine is operational and best left alone.
