You need to saw through a grinding wheel, but if you take the stone out, you will never get it re-clamped in the same exact spot. Trying to continue in the old cut never works, and puts the blade in real danger of being dished. My solution: Use a C-clamp to hold the grinding wheel to the back side of the vise, leaving the stone clamped in place. Saw into the carbide (just a little seems to do), unclamp it, and continue the cut through your wood. No lost or tapered slabs, though there is sure to be a mother of a saw mark where the saw stalled. In theory, I suppose the carbide might move and bend the blade, but It doesn't happen to me. While cutting the carbide, my saw is almost silent so I don't think the grinding wheel puts up much resistance to the diamond saw. The blade would give a bit on shorter cuts to make up for the misalignment, but on longer cuts it would bind. With the blade engaged (but not spinning), try loosening and retightening the vise to see if the blade and rock will realign so you can finish the cut. When it binds it comes up the petrified wood is very hard I made another cut but had a hard time to get it cut the center is very hard I will try one time it will be slow and I have to be there to make sure every thing is OK Len - ----- Original Message ----- From: Kreigh Tomaszewski To: Sent: Sunday, August 12, 2001 2:03 PM Subject: Re: Stuck Saw > Is it possible the blade and vise carriage are not exactly parallel?
