Did you check the arbor? If a saw blade seems to bend or dish suddenly, it is a good practice to visually inspect the arbor and bearings for signs of damage, wear, and fatigue. Inspecting the arbor with a dial indicator should expose any concealed warping. Excluding the possibility your vise is causing the problem, the arbor seems number one suspect. WHAT TO DO: 1. Determine if your new blade is, in fact, bent or if it just *appears* that way. 2. Inspect arbor and bearings, use a Dial Indicator on arbor to check for warping. 3. Check vise for wear or hole elongation around nuts, bolts, and *ways*. 4. Determine if saw feed is too ambitious. Remember, it is possible your new blade was bent when you got it. If you need detailed inspection procedures, I can provide them to you directly, off list. > leonard cone wrote: > Hi Ron > I just bought an eighteen saw blade and it is bent I just > cut one slice I do not think that I could bend it could > you give me any thing that would make it bend Leonard - -- Regards, Ron Winter, Auburn, Washington. http://www.stonetrails.com mailto:Ron@stonetrails.com In search of: The Mother of All Geodes! *Coprolite Happens* Copyright © Circa 2001 Ron Winter ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 17 Sep 2001 14:03:23 -0700 From: Mike Keim Subject: AD:chinese minerals This message is in MIME format.
